On the 1st of December it is new moon in Sagittarius. It’s at 06.21am GMT and at 9 degrees.
Sagittarius, often a great relief after the Scorpio time in the underworld, is about bright soaring expansive vistas. It’s Baroque trumpets, raising our spirits and bringing in hope and optimism. Sagittarius is a pilgrimage, a holy and far-reaching adventure, following the path of the archers arrow. The best of Sag is tremendous self belief and fiery expression of authenticity as an explorer and seeker.
Sag can also be impatient, bombastic and overblown, about religious fundamentalism and fanaticism. Nothing by halves!
Mercury is retrograding in Sagittarius until the 15th December. At new moon it’s conjunct both Sun and Moon. It is useful to see this as a time of slowing down and looking again at the Sag theme of higher truth and what that is for us. We can review what are our most authentic and real beliefs and actions, even when those actions don’t “suit” our impulsive side. Mercury retro opposes Jupiter retro so mistakes could be amplified but so can the solutions if details are attended to. Communicating is key. We may be tempted to act fast, but patience teaches us to be a bit more measured. Go higher!
Sun and moon are trining Mars in Leo which is passion and fire. However Mars will retrograde from the 6th December back into watery Cancer right into February next year. Mars now helps with self expression and confidence, also potentially looking at tricky relationship issues and the balance between the passive and active or female and male within yourself. Will you have the Leo courage to confront what is out of balance and continue to work with the situation? This Sun/Moon Mars trine is part of a grand fire trine including north node still in Aries until January which is emphasizing the theme of being true to your real self.
Saturn in Pisces can help us structure our actions for the compassionate collective benefit, but Sun and Moon square sobering Saturn. Jupiter also squares Saturn, dampening Jupiterian optimism in favour of realism and the longer trajectory, also looking at actions and decisions over time, including lessons learnt in the past.
Chiron is Aries has taken many of us on a profound inner healing journey this year, linking to the solar eclipse we had on April 8th and now trining both Mercury and Jupiter. There is more useful self reflection to be done, new insights still to be had. Venus is squaring Chiron in sensible Capricorn which is steady and dutiful and wants to stay with existing plans, but tending to the healing journey is the most important work. Venus is also trining Uranus which can bring sudden good news in love or money .
It’s fast-paced now. Many of us, maybe goaded by Mars and this fiery picture, may be experiencing multiple strong emotions in a single day - anger and intolerance, frustration, restriction, impatience, vulnerability or insecurity. It helps to see this as a clearing time and to just let the difficult emotions pass through, to scoop off like sediment rising to the top of boiling jam. For example, on Tuesday I just cried, pretty much ALL day, ALL my issues and problems came to the surface. Wednesday it was done, on to the next thing. There will be joy and optimism also, if not today, it’s coming tomorrow. So not getting attached or entrenched in emotions is important where possible.
Look to where you have 9 degrees Sag in your chart, this is the key area to look at from a more lofty perspective for the new cycle. Despite the retrogrades we can move forwards with positivity and make use of fiery Sagittarian courage and heartedness. Set your most expansive intentions!
Happy new moon
